Most people think that the bible is an old tome of outdated rules. And when it comes to sex, all it says is – don’t do it.
Well, if you thought so, I have news for you.
The Bible has a lot to say about sex. As a sexologist, I’ve read heaps of sex books. And the Bible is the one I’ve learned the most about sex from.
How come?
The Bible starts (in the first book of Genesis) with a romantic sexual marriage union. Adam and Eve, perfect in body and mind. Adam had the perfect six pack and was perfectly adorned. Eve – well she had no need of any surgical enhancement. And when God brought Adam his bride – he was rapt with desire!
In Genesis 2:23, Adam says “WOW! This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh, she shall be called ‘woman,’ for she was taken out of man.” Okay – I added the ‘wow’, but you get what I mean.

The Bible closes with a marriage. In Revelation 21:2 we see the marriage of Christ and the new Jerusalem, the redeemed church. “I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband.”
What a wedding feast – honeymoon and eternal marriage that will be.
And then in the middle of the Bible is a book of erotic poetry. We have eight chapters of sensual loving between a husband and wife in the Song of Songs.
Song of Songs 4:10-12 “How delightful is your love, my sister, my bride! How much more pleasing is your love than wine, and the fragrance of your perfume more than any spice! Your lips drop sweetness as the honeycomb, my bride; milk and honey are under your tongue. The fragrance of your garments is like the fragrance of Lebanon. You are a garden locked up, my sister, my bride; you are a spring enclosed, a sealed fountain.”
The joys of sensuality – saved for marriage between the lovers. What pleasure – what promise!
